My Vlog includes footage from nightclubs, Belarusian girls, the beautiful city of Minsk, police brutality, the surveillance State, world war II museum, medieval swordfights and more. Minsk is a fantastic picturesque city with Europe's most beautiful girls. It is safe and easy to navigate from one part of the city to the next using the metro system. I also found Belorussians to be most welcoming and friendly with tourists. The exception is people who work for the government. They are mean and ridiculously rude. Stay away from them at all costs. • Blackout Ep. 3: Inside Belarus, Europe's Last Dictatorship

In October of last year, Alexander Lukashenko swept to his fifth term as the Belarusian president, marking 22 years in power. Despite the elections being marred by allegations of fraud, the EU has this month lifted travel sanctions against Lukashenko's government, as a reward for good behavior — the elections passed without a repeat of 2010’s violent crackdown against opposition parties. But critics argue that the EU is making a dangerous endorsement of an autocratic regime that still employs the use of internet surveillance, censorship, and intimidation to exert control over its people and press. VICE News meets the Belarusian journalists and bloggers struggling to tell the truth about Belarus in this post-soviet dictatorship. In BLACKOUT, a series made possible by Jigsaw, VICE News tak...

(13 Sep 2016) Two opposition candidates have won seats in the Belarusian parliament for the first time in 20 years, reflecting its long-time authoritarian president's efforts to improve ties with the West. But one of the candidates, Anna Konopatskaya of the United Civic Party of Belarus, said elections had not been fair and that her priority was legal reform that would allow "open and free elections" in four years' time. Konopatskaya was elected to the parliament along with Yelena Anisim, deputy head of the opposition-friendly Society of the Belarusian Language, to the 110-seat parliament. The remaining seats in Sunday's election, which had a 75 percent turnout, went to former government officials and managers from state-owned companies. Although all ballots were counted by Monday mor...

Every evening Belarusian national television broadcasts the State Anthem of the Republic of Belarus. =============== The only legal mention of the national anthem before 2002 is in the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus. Section One, Article 19 of the constitution states that "The symbols of the Republic of Belarus as a sovereign state shall be its national flag, national emblem and national anthem." While the constitution only mentioned the use of the flag, anthem and arms as national symbols, each symbol had to be defined by law. A law introducing an anthem was not enacted until Presidential Decree 350 took effect, on July 18, 2002, the day before Belarus's independence day. The decree's main objective was to establish lyrics for the anthem and introduce musical notation along...

Russia and Belarus signed a treaty of union last month, calling for economic political and military cooperation but falling short of creating a single state. The two leaders are likely to sign a more detailed agreement when they meet on Friday. I recommend cheap hotels that you can book upon arrival. For food I had a hard time in most restaurants. Go to the buffets as they are better. i know that the country has a terrible reputation. I do feel it is rather undeserved though. Yes there is repression but it did at least appear a safe country to live in without starving people. I filmed this Vlog over a couple of days and did my best to give a realistic impression of what it's like for a tourist to visit Minsk and Belarus. I also filmed a little around the city of Gomel but didn't really come across anything of major significance. I travelled through the country by train. The trains were old and Soviet but comfortable and extremely cheap. I highly recommend going by rail when traveling anywhere within the country of Belarus. The nightclubs in Minsk are amongst the best in all of Europe. Belorussian girls are absolutely stunning, extremely fit, beautiful and very friendly. I recommend anyone, backpackers and business travelers alike making their way through Europe to visit the country. PODCAST: https://www.patreon.com/user?u=3798336

In BLACKOUT, a series made possible by Jigsaw, VICE News takes viewers across the globe, from Pakistan to Belarus, to examine technology's role in the ongoing fight for free expression. Although all ballots were counted by Monday morning, the official result will not be announced later in the week. Western election monitors have not judged a single election in this country of 9.5 million to be free and fair in 20 years. The line of photos you are about to watch are pictures of people of Belarus who lost or about to lose their houses or apartments due to violation of the 44th article of Constitution of Belarus and the 17th article of Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Photos were taken during public discussion on urban planning Some photos were taken during court hearings. For more information, please read the text below this video. Развёрнутый текст на русском находится под этим видео. We are looking for international lawyers. Everyone heard about human rights. Some people know about a document called the Universal Declaration of Human Rights UDHR which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 10 December 1948 the date when these rights are declared. But how many people actually read its articles? We, the initiative groups of citizens of Belarus, who strive very hard to protect our property, our real estate property to be precise, did read and study the Declaration of Human Rights. Knowing its contest we very much appreciate the fact that mankind recognizes the right to own property as one of its basic human rights. Article 17. 1 Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others. 2 No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property. This very right is universally declared by the UN, but it is not always implemented here in Belarus, even though Belarus is a signatory country of this Declaration. The state of Belarus seizes our land and houses for the interest of the State, as it is officially claimed. It’s the State that takes away our property. We just are told by the State that it is done in the interest of the State. The decisions to expropriate property in the name of a state or for the sake of STATE NEEDS is based on the 1st Article of THE CODE OF THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS ABOUT THE EARTH of July 23, 2008 No. 425-Z The last edition from 24-10-2016 It is accepted by the House of Representatives on June 17, 2008. Approved by Council of the Republic on June 28, 2008 It seems somewhat logical at first glance, but in most cases the decisions to take away people’s property have nothing to do with state needs, and it is done so in direct violation of the Article 44 of the Constitution which speaks about public need. Quote: The State shall guarantee everyone the right of property and shall contribute to its acquisition. A proprietor shall have the right to possess, enjoy and dispose of assets either individually or jointly with others. The inviolability of property and the right to inherit property shall be protected by law. Property acquired in accordance with the law shall be safeguarded by the State. The State shall encourage and protect the savings of citizens and guarantee conditions for the return of deposits. The compulsory alienation of assets shall be permitted only by REASON OF PUBLIC NEED, under the conditions and the procedure specified by law, with timely and full compensation for the value of the alienated assets, and in accordance with a ruling of a court of law. The exercise of the right of property shall not be contrary to social benefit and security, or be harmful to the environment or historical and cultural treasures, or infringe upon the rights and legally protected interests of others. Above all it is done in violation of Article 30 of the Constitution: Citizens of the Republic of Belarus shall have the right to move freely and choose their place of residence within the Republic of Belarus, to leave it and to return to it without hindrance. We have made our choice. We chose our place of residence long time ago and do not wish to be resettled somewhere else against our will. The article 9 of the Declaration: No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile. But we are being expelled from our land which we own, land which we do not wish to leave. Please contact us. We have a public group in facebook, even though most of its contest is in Russian, there are however, lost of articles in English. Please join in – Общественное обсуждение Минска – is a name of our facebook group. We need professional legal help. To enhance international cooperation between Belarus and the US we seek contacts with the Habitat for Humanity International organization. Thank you. Enjoy your owner’s rights in your country.

The decree's main objective was to establish lyrics for the anthem and introduce musical notation along with the new lyrics. Moreover, the decree designated when, where, and how the anthem was to be performed. Before issuing the decree, President Alexander Lukashenko listened to five possible candidates for the national anthem. Three out of the five candidates, including the one ultimately chosen, used the music composed by Sakalouski and began their lyrics with the line My Belarusy. According to the newspaper Soviet Byelorussia, President Lukashenko decided on the anthem on June 12, 2002 and chose to have its first performance on July 3, Belarusian independence day, the anniversary of the date in 1944 when the Wehrmacht was driven away from Minsk by the Red Army. However, the first performance actually took place on July 2 at a concert organized by the government as part of the Belarusian independence festivities. Belarus did not have an anthem before one was adopted in the Soviet-era. When Lukashenko issued his decree selecting a new national anthem, only slight changes were made to the Soviet-era hymn. While the references to Russia, the Communist Party and Lenin were replaced; the overall theme of "friendship of peoples" and the original music composed by Sakalouski were preserved. The government decided to keep Sakalouski's music in order to maintain historical continuity, and also on account of its popularity and musical quality. After the national anthem was adopted, the process of adopting national symbols was completed. (source: wikipedia)

Russian/Nat Presidents Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus and Boris Yeltsin of Russia worked Thursday on the final details of a union treaty. On Friday, the two presidents were scheduled to sign the agreement that Lukashenko said would simply be an official recognition of a situation already existing between the two former Soviet states. Russia and Belarus signed a treaty of union last month, calling for economic political and military cooperation but falling short of creating a single state. The two leaders are likely to sign a more detailed agreement when they meet on Friday. Russian Liberals question Lukashenko's motives for tightening relations with Russia believing that he wishes to make a bid to become leader of Russia. Russia, though, has turned down Lukashenko's proposals for a single state with a single president. SOUNDBITE: (Russian) In brief why is Lukashenko here today? I'm here to legalise what has actually happened a long time ago. As a matter of fact we have moved far ahead of the provisions of the charter and the agreement. So this meeting is nothing extraordinary SUPER CAPTION: Alexander Lukashenko, President, Belorussia Although the charter to be signed on Friday by Yeltsin and Lukashenko has been described as a hedge against NATO expansion into Eastern Europe, the treaty is not expected to further unite the countries militarily. Nor, apparently, will it create a single governmental, political or legal system. English/Nat A British jury is making legal history in an unprecedented journey back to an area that witnesses some of the most harrowing scenes of the Holocaust. In Britain's first Nazi war crimes trial, a 77 year old man is charged with killings that took place in Western Belarus in 1942. Jurors, a trial judge and court officials have been sent there from Britain to view the evidence for themselves. The jury and officials from the court crossed the Belarus border under police escort, setting up operations in the western town of Brest. They then traveled to the town of Domachevo to view the terrible evidence. Anthony Sawoniuk, a retired rail ticket collector from London, is charged with four counts of murder carried out during the Holocaust. The prosecution says he was one of the first volunteers for Domachevo's Nazi police force in the summer of 1941. Sawoniuk is said to not only to have carried out Jewish executions on command but did so with enthusiasm. Before the war the town of Domachevo had a large Jewish population -- the majority of which were virtually annihilated during the Nazi campaign. Jewish men, women and even children were machine-gunned into mass graves later uncovered after the war. Sawoniuk is said to have rose swiftly up the ranks of his Nazi commanders -- eventually promoted to Commandant where he served for more than 3 years. He fled with the Nazis when Soviet troops finally approached Domachevo in 1944. Sawoniuk denies all charges. In this fascinating case the jurors are not only brought to the scene of the crime but also provided with a full history of the Holocaust as well as Belarussia's role in World War II. SOUNDBITE: (English) "This is a unique case because this is a first war crime trial in Britain and it is also the first time the jury ever left the jurisdiction of Great Britain to view the evidence." SUPERCAPTION: Mike Wicksteed, press-officer for the Central Criminal Court of Great Britain The jurors' journey into the past is designed to produce a fair and just verdict in the Sawoniuk case. One witness says he saw Sawoniuk murdering 15 naked Jewish women with a sub-machine gun. The unusual court case, which will be heard back in the U-K, aims to determine if Sawoniuk was indeed one of thousands of individuals guilty of war crimes. रूस सबसे चौकाने वाला देश | Facts About Russia Russia (/ˈrʌʃə/ (About this sound listen); Russian: Росси́я, tr. Rossija; IPA: [rɐˈsʲijə]; from the Greek: Ρωσία — Rus'), also officially known as the Russian Federation[12] (Russian: Российская Федерация, tr. Rossiyskaya Federatsiya; IPA: [rɐˈsʲijskəjə fʲɪdʲɪˈratsɨjə]), is a country in Eurasia.[13] At 17,075,200 square kilometres (6,592,800 sq mi), Russia is the largest country in the world by surface area, covering more than one-eighth of the Earth's inhabited land area,[14][15][16] and the ninth most populous, with over 144 million people at the end of March 2016.[17][7] The European western part of the country is much more populated and urbanised than the eastern; about 77% of the population live in European Russia. Russia's capital Moscow is one of the largest cities in the world; other major urban centers include Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, and Kazan. Extending across the entirety of Northern Asia and much of Eastern Europe, Russia spans eleven time zones and incorporates a wide range of environments and landforms. From northwest to southeast, Russia shares land borders with Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland (both with Kaliningrad Oblast), Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, and North Korea. It shares maritime borders with Japan by the Sea of Okhotsk and the U.S. state of Alaska across the Bering Strait. The East Slavs emerged as a recognizable group in Europe between the 3rd and 8th centuries AD.[18] Founded and ruled by a Varangian warrior elite and their descendants, the medieval state of Rus arose in the 9th century. In 988 it adopted Orthodox Christianity from the Byzantine Empire,[19] beginning the synthesis of Byzantine and Slavic cultures that defined Russian culture for the next millennium.[19] Rus' ultimately disintegrated into a number of smaller states; most of the Rus' lands were overrun by the Mongol invasion and became tributaries of the nomadic Golden Horde in the 13th century.[20] The Grand Duchy of Moscow gradually reunified the surrounding Russian principalities, achieved independence from the Golden Horde, and came to dominate the cultural and political legacy of Kievan Rus'. By the 18th century, the nation had greatly expanded through conquest, annexation, and exploration to become the Russian Empire, which was the third largest empire in history, stretching from Poland on the west to Alaska on the east.[21][22] Following the Russian Revolution, the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic became the largest and leading constituent of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the world's first constitutionally socialist state.[23] The Soviet Union played a decisive role in the Allied victory in World War II,[24][25] and emerged as a recognized superpower and rival to the United States during the Cold War. The Soviet era saw some of the most significant technological achievements of the 20th century, including the world's first human-made satellite and the launching of the first humans in space. By the end of 1990, the Soviet Union had the world's second largest economy, largest standing military in the world and the largest stockpile of weapons of mass destruction.[26][27][28] Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, fifteen independent republics emerged from the USSR: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan; the Russian SFSR reconstituted itself as the Russian Federation and is recognized as the continuing legal personality and sole successor state of the Soviet Union.[29] It is governed as a federal semi-presidential republic. The Russian economy ranks as the twelfth largest by nominal GDP and sixth largest by purchasing power parity in 2015.[30] Russia's extensive mineral and energy resources are the largest such reserves in the world,[31] making it one of the leading producers of oil and natural gas globally.[32][33] The country is one of the five recognized nuclear weapons states and possesses the largest stockpile of weapons of mass destruction.[34] Russia is a great power as well as a regional power and has been characterised as a potential superpower.
